Royce Da 5’9″ nominated for Grammy 2021.
The 63rd annual Grammy Awards which will take place next year on January 31st, have announced the nominations for this year’s event, which is topped by Beyonce with nine nominations. Eminem has been snubbed by the annual music event, but the Detroit rapper’s fellow artist Royce Da 5’9″ managed to gets a spot in the nominees for Best Rap Album at Grammy 2021.
Royce’s latest album ‘The Allegory‘ which released earlier this year, is up against D Smoke’s “Black Habits“, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist’s “Alfredo“, Jay Electronica’s “A Written Testimony” and Nas’ “King’s Disease“. The Best Rap Songs nominations feature Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Drake, Lil Durk, DaBaby, Megan The Stallion, and Beyonce.
The nomination for “The Allegory” is Royce’s first in a career that spans two decades. Royce da 5’9″, Ryan Montgomery, a rapper and songwriter, performs at the Garden Theater in Detroit. “I was shocked. It was by far the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me,” On the phone Tuesday evening, Royce said he had no idea the Grammy nominations were due Tuesday. “It’s surreal. I’m still taking it in. Somebody needs to pinch me. I feel like someone’s going to come and say ‘nah, psyche, we’re just kidding.’”
Joyner Lucas was the first to reach out to him and deliver the good news. Calls from fellow musicians, his management team, his parents, and his wife followed.
