Rodney King’s Daughter says Eminem’s ‘Untouchable’ ‘Gives People Like Myself Hope’.

Eminem’s new project ‘Revival‘ is out now, and on this song ‘Untouchable‘ he lashed out against Crooked cops for their disrespect towards African Americans. He references the infamous Rodney King beating from 1991. Rodney, the taxi driver, was beaten by the LAPD while laying on the ground, after a high-speed chase. It sparked huge outrage in the African American community which turns into violent riots in the city of LA after the officers involved were acquitted of all charges. In his song ‘Untouchable’, Eminem raps “We done seen’ em beat Rodney King unconscious, and got off/ So we don’t need all you crooked police officers’ peace offerings“. Rodney King’s daughter, Lora Dene King, praises Eminem stance in a new letter to the Detroit Rapper.

After seeing her father’s anguish in 1991, King, the founder of the Rodney King Foundation for Social Justice and Human Rights, believes the record inspired a feeling of hope in her. She talks to Billboard and said ‘I decided to write this letter to Eminem because it takes heart to Speak about this subject that so many people overlook. I wrote it because his song gives people like myself hope. It’s not just this song that inspires me [but] his music period! He speaks for the hurt that people sometimes suppress in order to deal with society. The details in this song let me know just how much he cares. I wanted him to know that I appreciate him writing it.

King commended Em in her letter for “standing up for all the folks with a voice who are silenced, from speaking for a chance.” King also urged the MC to “keep going against the grain to wake people up and maybe spark a change” by telling him to “keep going against the grain to wake people up and perhaps spark a change.

Eminem has taken a more political stance since Revival was first teased, beginning with his 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards freestyle. Em raps, “Then says he wants to lower our taxes/Then who’s gonna pay for his extravagant trips/Back and forth with his fam’ to his golf resorts and his mansions?/Same shit that he tormented Hillary for and he slandered/Then does it more/From his endorsement of Bannon/Support for the Klansmen.

Eminem,
I am the middle daughter of the late great Rodney Glen King. I am also the founder of the Rodney King Foundation for Social Justice and Human Rights. I first would like to thank you for always speaking on subjects that are not so attractive to America but need to be heard. Thank you for always speaking for the unheard, with the position and the race you possess. Please keep going against the grain to wake people up and hopefully spark a change.

Thank you for speaking about the elephant in the room: “injustice in America,” from a white man’s perceptive with a human heart!! Thank you for speaking the truth about America not liking the site of a black boy. Period. No matter the time!! It’s always the wrong time and then time is up!!! So glad you mentioned [how] the bad cops always mess it up for the good cops. There are too many good cops that get overshadowed by the dark cloud of bad ones. Thank you for speaking on segregation.
