Rihanna & Jay-Z Collab Umbrella Hits 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

Jay-Z earns another 1 billion song with Rihanna’s “Umbrella”.

Rihanna and Jay-Z earn a new milestone as their 2007 hit collab “Umbrella” has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. The song appeared on Riri’s third studio album “Good Girl Gone Bad”. The song was a worldwide success, reaching number 1 on the charts in the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and more. It was one of the highest digital debuts in the US at the time and remained at top of the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks.

The track earned multiple accolades, including Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 58th Grammy Award in 2008. It was also nominated for Record of the year and Song of the year. The song is listed at number 332 on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

It becomes Jay-Z’s second song to reach 1 billion on Spotify, as he recently earned his first one with Kanye West collab “Ni**as In Paris” which appeared on their 2011 album “Watch The Throne”.

For seven weeks straight, the song was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and it helped Rihanna’s due to come album, Good Girl Gone Bad, become a multi-platinum hit. Success spread fast throughout the world; “Umbrella” topped the UK charts for 10 weeks and has since sold more than six million copies. Rihanna gained the self-assurance and influence to control her own future as a result of its popularity.
