Pusha T again disses McDonald’s with Arby’s.
Earlier this year, Pusha T teamed up with fast-food sandwich restaurant chain Arby’s for a diss track towards their rival McDonald’s. “I’m the reason / The whole world love it / Now I gotta crush it,” he rapped, referencing his previous claims that he wrote McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” song.
The rapper is now back with another fiery diss track titled “Rib Roast”, where he takes shots at McDonald’s McRib to promote Arby’s Real Country Style Rib Sandwich.
“The business relationship between Arby’s and me is really strong because we’re both just very passionate and very committed to the quality that we put out,” he told Complex. “That’s what I’ve noticed, synonymously, myself and my music, and with them it’s the food and the product and just making everything connect and making the storylines connect. They have a different level of commitment and focus that I’ve never seen in working with another brand. Any time they bring up these activations and these ideas, I’m always open for a listen because they are very, very meticulous about what it is that they do.”
In 2016, Pusha said he was the author of the well-known McDonald’s commercial jingle, “I’m Lovin’ It.” The Neptunes, who have worked with Push on several occasions, produced the song, which featured Justin Timberlake. However, co-writers Tom Batoy, Franco Tortora, and others engaged in its construction have since refuted that assertion.
In the new interview, Pusha T also talked about new music. “I’m just working on some super special projects, man. Everyone I’m working with is feeling very competitive, trying not to be outdone. That just makes my job harder because I’m trying to outdo producers who are also great artists who are also great rappers and composers. That makes my battle twice as hard. But it makes for the best rap music.”
