Nicki Minaj Reveals ‘Queen’ Album Cover.
After pushing back her new album ‘Queen‘ release date to August 10th, Nicki Minaj decided to reveal the official cover art for the project. The Artwork was shot by the duo of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. She also calls ‘Queen‘ her ‘Greatest work to date‘ with the unveiling of the cover art.
Rap artists including Eminem, Foxy Brown, Future, Swae Lee, and Lil Wayne make cameos, as do singers Ariana Grande, Labrinth, and the Weeknd. The album’s launch date was pushed back several times until it was finally released a week ahead of schedule. Singles included “Chun-Li,” “Bed,” “Barbie Dreams,” and a remix of “Good Form.”
“Chun-Li,” the album’s lead song, just debuted in the top ten of the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, marking her 30th attempt. This gives her the most top ten hits on the list, surpassing Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige, who both have 29. Minaj was just revealed as a performer at the BET Awards last week (airing June 24th). Only a few days later, it was announced that Minaj will headline (together with Post Malone) 2018 Made in America festival (taking place in September).
With 185,000 album-equivalent units, of which 78,000 were from album sales alone, the album debuted in the United States at number two on the Billboard 200. Travis Scott’s Astroworld, which topped the charts for a second week, premiered ahead of the album. In its second week, the album gained an extra 95,000 album-equivalent units but fell one spot to number three.
