Nick Cannon names his top 5 diss tracks & laughs at Eminem beef.
Nick Cannon continues his World Famous Top 5 series on Nick Cannon Radio as this time, the TV Personality decided to reveal his favourite diss tracks of all time. Before naming his top 5 diss tracks, Nick Cannon brought up his feud with Eminem and laughs off at his attempt to take shots at the Detroit Rapper.
Eminem’s sixth studio album, Relapse, was released on May 15, 2009. “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” a fierce piece from the Grammy-winning record, was included. The song, which was directed at Mariah Carey and her newlywed husband, Nick Cannon, implies that Eminem is still in love with Carey after an alleged 6-month relationship (which the singer has denied) and wants her back. This song would spark Em and Cannon’s decade-long feud after years of friction between Eminem and Carey.
In Late 2019, Nick Cannon released a series of diss records for Eminem, for which he never got any response. But last year, Nick’s longtime feud with Detroit Rapper was finally squashed, with some help from Royce da 5’9″.
Needless to say, Cannon is well-versed in the requisite potency for a successful diss. The Masked Singer presenter tackled the “Top 5 Best Diss Tracks” in a new part of Nick Cannon Radio’s “World Famous Top 5” YouTube series. Before getting to the list, Cannon quipped that his feud with Eminem was one of the best, then quickly moved on.
“We gonna start this thing off right,” says Nick Cannon. “The number five diss track is ME vs EMINEM… No, I’m joking, I’m joking. Even though it was just hip hop culture going on. But we gotta go with Biggie’s diss track, I gotta start off with ‘Dre Day.’ Dre and Snoop, they came at Eazy’s neck … they was getting at everybody. That’s my joint right there.”
“And the No. 1 diss song of all time — and it’s only because it’s probably the biggest Hip Hop beat ever and one of the best rappers to ever do it and it was just so disrespectful,” Cannon continued. “He started it off with like, That’s why I f**ked your bi**h.’ When you start a record off like that … and unfortunately there was so much that went on with their demise, I wish these brothers could have came back together because they were truly friends.
“That’s what hurts all of our hearts, when we lose our greats to senseless violence, but ‘Hit ‘Em Up.’ My goodness. And trust me, there are some backstories to this record that the world does not know about and it will be in Suge Knight’s book that I am putting out this year.”
Nick Cannon stayed on the West Coast for No. 4, naming Ice Cube’s famed Eazy-E diss “No Vaseline,” but went to the East Coast for No. 3, naming JAY-Z’s “The Takeover,” which targeted Mobb Deep and Nas. He then ranked Drake’s Meek Mill massacre “Back To Back” at No. 2, saying it the “only diss song to garner a Grammy nomination and is a club smash.”
Then he lists his top diss tracks which are topped by Tupac’s “Hit ‘Em Up“. Surprisingly, the list doesn’t feature Eminem’s MGK diss track “Killshot” which made the biggest ever hip-hop debut on youtube at that time.
It’s worth noting that Eminem has a slew of Nick Cannon diss tunes, including Lord Above and Bagpipes of Baghdad. Relapse, Eminem’s sixth studio album, was released. The furious track “Bagpipes from Baghdad” was featured on the Grammy-winning album. The song, which was directed at Mariah Carey and her newlywed husband, Nick Cannon, said that Eminem was still in love with Carey after a rumoured 6-month romance (which she has denied), and that he wanted her back. After years of friction between Eminem and Carey, this song would reignite the decade-long animosity between Em and Cannon.
All of them are viable ideas, but why isn’t there an Eminem diss? Even though it wasn’t a video, “Killshot” made history by having the largest hip hop video premiere on YouTube. Not to mention the ramifications. Diss tracks seldom have any effect other than on the emotional condition of their targets. “Killshot,” on the other hand, shifted its focus away from hip hop and towards other genres.’
