NBA Youngboy receives a huge career milestone, earns 100 plus RIAA plaque.
A couple of months ago, it was revealed that Youngboy Never Broke Again has achieved more than 100 RIAA Certifications, including both Gold and platinum plaques. The Baton Rouge Rapper has now shown off the Plaque he received from the Recording Industry Association of America for his new achievement.
The father of seven has now hit a new milestone. DJ Akademiks came to Instagram yesterday (May 13) to highlight what the “Make No Sense” musician had done. He sent a photo of YB, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, standing in front of a large plaque to his four million followers.
The rapper currently has 74 RIAA Gold Certifications, 29 Platinum units, and 10 multi-platinum units. Youngboy now also appears in the list of rappers with the most platinum songs including guest features, as he on the number 8 spot with 32 plaques. Drake tops the list with 95 RIAA Platinum Plaques.
The plaque’s inscription says, “100 RIAA Gold/Platinum Certifications.” The rapper’s name is spelt out in large, red letters in the centre of the frame. Many gold and silver CDs are stacked in a circle behind it, comparable to a work of art. The award is surrounded by photos of cover art from some of his best-selling albums.
RIAA Platinum and gold certifications indicate the number of units sold for a particular album or track, with each platinum plaque representing one million units sold and each gold plaque representing 500,000 units sold in the United States.
Previously, it was also reported that Youngboy surpassed two big names with his latest entries, as he now has more RIAA Certifications than Future and J. Cole. Future had a total of 54 RIAA Plaques [Gold & Platinum], while “4 Your Eyez Only” rapper has 23 platinum units, 42 gold units and 11 multi-platinum units.
While this is a resounding achievement for NBA, he is compelled to split it with his company, Atlantic Records, with whom he has recently clashed. The artist accuses his label of “blackballing” him in February.
“Why black ball me I’m the good guy!!!??” he wrote on YouTube. “I was going #1 two weeks straight with a mixtape so they took it down off the charts. I don’t give a f**k you still can’t stop me don’t sign to Atlantic if you a artist they not gone support you especially if you live a certain way.”
NBA YoungBoy was alluding to the release of his most recent mixtape, Colors, on January 21. The tape debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard charts, making it his ninth career Top 10 effort.
