“This year’s incredible group of Inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “We are honored that this November’s Induction Ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Hip Hop.”
“Songwriter, groundbreaking producer, label executive, and video trendsetter, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott was crucial to crafting the Virginia Beach sound that took over the airwaves in the late 1990s and 2000s. She established herself as an in-demand songwriter and producer and founded her own record label, all before breaking out as a Platinum-selling solo star. Elliott forged new paths for women in the music industry and society at large through her behind-the-scenes mastery and unapologetic ownership of her body, her se*ual desires, and her Blackness in her music,” wrote Rock Hall about Elliott.

Last year, Eminem received the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame honour, where he was inducted by his longtime mentor and collaborator Dr. Dre. In his induction speech, the rapper named over 100 musical influences who inspired him in his long career.
Missy Elliott now joins the likes of JAY-Z, LL Cool J, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, who was inducted into Rock Hall. “Thank you, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for this incredible honor. And you know, growing up, we didn’t think we could be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We were told that hip-hop was a fad,” Jay-Z said in 2021. “Hopefully, I’m informing the next generation that anything is possible.”
