Mac Miller’s “Faces” mixtape is releasing on Streaming Platforms next month.
Mac Miller‘s mixtape “Faces” which was dropped in 2014, is coming to digital streaming services and Vinyl next month on October 15th. The album was released on Mother’s Day and featured Schoolboy Q, Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul, Rick Ross, Vince Staples, and more. Ahead of the project release, a new music video from the album is released, for the song called “Colors and Shapes“. The Sam Mason-directed visual shows a dog going through surreal dimensions and outer spaces.
“The track felt very visual to me—like it had its own world,” Mason told Pitchfork. “This atmospheric nighttime place that was sometimes dangerous, sometimes comforting, then I saw a picture of [Mac Miller’s dog] Ralph and a story emerged. To build it out I asked Malcolm’s family to send me bits and pieces from his childhood, scenes from the town where he grew up, objects, toys from his room—little pieces of his life that I extrapolated outwards and used to inspire the story. In the abstract, it’s meant to be a video about childhood—growing up as an artist and the highs and lows of that experience. It’s sort of a look at the emotional and difficult and perilous but noble path of an artist.”
“Faces” was available on streaming platforms in April 2020, following the official streaming release of K.I.D.S. in April 2020. The tracklist for Miller’s debut mixtape, however, was incomplete, as the songs “Traffic in the Sky” and “La La La” were missing.
The estate of the late Pittsburgh native also released a music video for “Colors and Shapes,” which was directed by Sam Mason after obtaining information about Mac’s youth from his family to create an enthralling short centered on Mac’s dog, Ralph.
