While many fans were disappointed by Eminem’s absence from the album, especially after the popularity of their previous two collaborations, “You Gon Learn” from Music To Be Murdered By and “Not Alike” from Kamikaze, Eminem surprised listeners by saying a few lines during the “Perspective” skit.
In the skit, Eminem discusses hip-genuine hop’s impact and how it has produced a “mixing pot” that has brought people of all colors together. He also recognizes the frustration that the black community must feel when they are responsible for many of today’s music genres, only to see fame and glory go to a member of the white community who creates music in that genre with their own twist.
In the skit he talks about the influence of black music, confusion regarding white people idolize black musicians, especially Hip-Hop artists and much more.
Eminem says:
“But you’ve got people of all races coming together and tryna helping shake this from the ground up
So now you got little white kids growing’ up with black idols
And you got black kids growin’ up with white idols
And you got, it’s just this whole mixing pot
Nothing has brought more races and more people from all different walks of life together than hip-hop
No music has done that, I don’t think anything has done that as much as hip-hop has
So, in the same token, I can understand the frustration being that,
you know, damn near every form of music, period was created by black people…”
