Lil Wayne is back with the Side B of his “No Ceilings” Mixtape. Last month, Lil Wayne Dropped his “No Ceilings” Mixtape which included features from Drake, Young Thug, Gudda Gudda, Jay Jones, Kam Karter & More.
“No Ceilings 3” comes after Lil Wayne’s thirteenth studio album “Funeral” and the deluxe edition of that project’s predecessor “Tha Carter V”, both of which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 with 139,000 and 480,000 album-equivalent units, respectively, in their first weeks. He’s now working on “ColleGrove 2” with 2 Chainz, Like Father, Like Son 2 with Birdman, and I Am Not a Human Being III, all of which are slated for release next year (probably). Simply put, the New Orleans legend isn’t slowing down any time soon.
Wayne interpolates and samples a variety of tracks from others, including SZA’s “Hit Different” (on a new song of the same name) and YNW Melly and Kanye West’s “Mixed Personalities,” which is hosted by DJ Khaled, as is the case with “No Ceilings 3.”
The rapper dropped the 14-track “Side B” mixtape on Friday, less than a month after releasing his No Ceilings 3 mixtape (Dec. 18). Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Rich the Kid, Euro, and Lil Twist all make cameos on the collection, which is hosted by DJ Khaled.
If any of the tracks feel slightly familiar, it’s because they all sample, remix, or combine other music in some way. “Tyler Herro,” for example, is a remake of Jack Harlow’s original “Tyler Herro,” while “Hit Different” uses the instrumental from SZA’s own excellent 2020 song. Other examples are “Layaway,” which samples YNW Melly and Kanye West’s “Mixed Personalities,” “These Hoes,” which references Future’s “Monster,” and “Beauty and the Beast,” which reworks Bryson Tiller’s “Rambo.”
