Lil Wayne takes shots at the GRAMMYs.
A few months ago, Lil Wayne called out the Recording Academy/Grammys for ignoring him for their 63rd annual event. He said, “As an artist when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited; I wonder. Is it me, my musik, or just another technicality? I look around w respect & wonder competitively am I not worthy?! Then I look around & see 5 Grammys looking bak at me & I go to the studio.”
Despite the fact that Wayne isn’t a huge fan of the Grammys (to put it bluntly), he has won a handful during the course of his career. He’s won five of the 24 awards he’s been nominated for: Best Rap Solo Performance for “A Milli” (2008), Best Rap Performance by Duo or Group for “Swagga Like Us” (2008), Best Rap Song for “Lollipop” (2008), Best Rap Album for Tha Carter III (2008), and Best Rap Performance for “No Problem” (2017).

Now after the Grammys ceremony that took place yesterday, Lil Wayne shades the annual event on Twitter. He wrote, “Fuk the Grammys,” with no explanation.
Fuk the Grammys

He joins the likes of Eminem, The Weeknd, Zayn, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West in criticizing and calling Grammys out for being corrupt.
The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…

.@recordingacad are moving in inches and we need to move in miles. I’m keeping the pressure on & fighting for transparency & inclusion. We need to make sure we are honoring and celebrating “creative excellence” of ALL. End the secret committees. Until then … #fuckthegrammys

Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday
