Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz became best friends because of weed.
2 Chainz and Lil Wayne were the latest guest on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, where the two discussed how they became best friends.
The two made an appearance on the show as part of the promo run for their upcoming joint album “Welcome 2 ColleGrove”, for which they released a new single “Presha” this week. In the interview, Wayne revealed that he first met 2 Chainz in Atlanta, and it turned out that Chainz was Weezy’s weed dealer.
“I mean, once we linked up, we were friends from there,” said Wayne. “Just same type of attitude, cool, but I didn’t know he rapped at the time.” “[Clears throat] Uhh… Wayne wanted cannabis,” revealed 2 Chainz, which made Fallon realize he was his weed dealer.
“And so every time I would go to Atlanta and I wanted to speak about that one thing [weed], I would always call this guy [2 Chainz] to talk about that,” Wayne continued.
“The moment he said he rapped and the moment I heard it, we got to the studio, and I did this hook for the song, ‘Duffle Bag Boy.’ And the rest is history,” Wayne said. The two have been best friends since over a decade, and Wayne was also the best man at 2 Chainz’s wedding.
Following the interview, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne also performed their new collab Presha on the show.
