Lil Nas X equals the historic chart milestone with Post Malone and Swae Lee.
Just recently, Post Malone and Swae Lee broke the record of highest certified song in US history after surpassing Lil Nas X. Now Lil Nas X equals the historic record as his 2018 single “Old Town Road” is now 17 times platinum in RIAA history.
The song has sold over 18 million records worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. Last year, Rolling Stone named it the 290th greatest song of all time. The song was the fastest to reach diamond certification in the United States.
Post Malone and Sawe Lee reached the milestone with their 2018 collab “Sunflower“, which was released as a single from the soundtrack to the animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, and also on Malone’s third studio album “Hollywood’s Bleeding”.
The Grammy-winning first song from the Montero star, which was released in 2018, has been smashing charts left, right, and centre ever since. It broke Mariah Carey and Luis Fonsi’s previous record for the lengthiest Billboard No. 1 single in July 2019, breaking it. That year’s later, it was the song to attain diamond certification the quickest. The song then crossed 1 billion views on YouTube in August of this year.
