Lil Durk Responds To French Montana's Recent Claim About Him

Lil Durk subliminally responds to French Montana.

This past week, French Montana fired back at people who tried to make fun of his catalog. The netizens brought French Montana’s name in the trending Squid Game-related meme. “For the next game, you need to name FIVE French Montana songs without features,” a user captioned the meme. Montana responded to the trolling and made a claim that he gave the world Lil Durk.

Was Lil Durk Signed To French Montana?

Lil Durk was reportedly signed to French Montana’s Coke Boys label in 2013. However, it’s important to note that the signing was never officially announced or made public. Before that, Durk had been building a reputation for himself and his OTF (Only the Family) movement. From 2012 to 2018, Smurk was signed to Def Jam as an artist. In 2016, during an appearance on The Breakfast Club show, Durk commented on French Montana’s lack of support for his new album.

THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE I DIDN’T GIVE THEM CHINX DRUGZ LIL DURK AND HARRY FRAUD,” he wrote. He was referencing the days when Durk was associated with his Coke Boys, but “The Voice” rapper never actually signed a contract.

A few years ago Durk addressed his falling out with Montana in an IG teaser. “When I fell out with French Montana that sh*t did me damage. I learned the rules of a contract but I was planning on singing. He picked me up when Def Jam didn’t, he turned me diamond. Now I’m the voice of the streets, perfect timing,” he said.

Now after Montana’s recent claim about him, Lil Durk seemingly responded to the “Unforgettable” rapper in his recent IG post. Lil Durk shared some of his pictures and captioned it with, “A n***a said he made me that’s the biggest cap…… 7220.

As French Montana prepares to release his new album They Got Amnesia, the New York rapper needed to clarify a few points. He sent out a few tweets asking folks to give him the credit he deserves. French reminded fans that he was instrumental in the careers of Chinx Drugs and Lil Durk.

For what it’s worth, Durk allegedly signed with French Montana’s Coke Boys label in 2013 after building a reputation for himself and his OTF movement. The signing, however, was never made public. Durk was a Def Jam artist from 2012 to 2018. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club in 2016, he commented on French’s lack of support for his new album, although he insisted that there was no love lost between the two rappers. Durk’s current label is Alamo Records.

On November 12, French will release a new album titled They Got Amnesia. His track “I Don’t Really Care,” which was created by Boi-1da and Lil CC, was released on Friday. He mentions Cardi B, The Weeknd, Eminem, and Childish Gambino in the video. John Legend, Rick Ross, Kodak Black, the late Pop Smoke, Lil Durk, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Fivio Foreign, Fabolous, Coi Leray, 42 Dugg, Ty Dolla Sign, Latto, Lil Tjay, and Moneybagg Yo all make cameo appearances on the album.
