Kendrick Lamar’s “HUBMLE.” hits #1 on Billboard hot 100, “DNA” also debuts inside top 5.
Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN. is his most successful one yet as it sold over 600k copies in its first week and surpassed Drake’s ‘More Life’ to become highest first week sold project of 2017. The first single HUMBLE. off the album has dethroned Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ as it moved from number 3 to number 1 on the Billboard 100 chart this week.
“Humble.” has surpassed its previous No. 2 Hot 100 peak reached two weeks ago. According to Nielsen Music, the tune spent a third week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, increasing 56 percent to an amazing 67.4 million US streams in the week ending April 20 (enough for the Hot 100’s top Streaming Gainer title). Only one song has had a higher weekly total on Streaming Songs (which began on March 2, 2013): Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” which peaked at 103 million in the week that the survey started, fueled primarily by user-generated video containing the song’s audio. Notably, between “Harlem” and “Humble,” Adele’s “Hello” had the greatest weekly streaming total in its first week: 61.6 million (Nov. 14, 2015).
