Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. has gone Certified Platinum.
Kendrick Lamar’s latest album DAMN., which sold over 603k copies in the first week, has gone certified platinum in less than three weeks. K.Dot’s album has the biggest debut of this year and it opened at number 1 on the Billboard 200. Kendrick’s major label Interscope has the made the announcement of Certified Platinum via Twitter.
Damn opened at number one on the Billboard 200 with 603,000 album-equivalent units in its first week of release in the United States, becoming his third straight album to do so after To Pimp a Butterfly (2015) and Untitled Unmastered (2016). In its first week, it sold 353,000 copies and received over 340 million streams. The album stayed at the top of the US charts in its second week, with 238,000 album-equivalent units sold, including 87,000 traditional album sales, for a total of 841,000 copies sold. The album continued to lead the charts in its third week, selling 173,000 album-equivalent units, including 57,000 traditional album sales, for a total of 1.014 million copies.
