Whitney Alford shares a new family picture on Father’s Day.
Father’s Day 2022 was celebrated on Sunday around the world, and Kendrick Lamar’s wife Whitney Alford decided to show some love to the father of two with an inspiration post. She posted a new picture with Kendrick Lamar, along with their two kids.
The loving family portrait, shot during the latest visit to Ghana, features Kendrick sitting next to his girl, who was born in July 2019, while Alford cradles her second kid, whose birth was publicly disclosed on the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album cover.
“Happy Father’s Day fellas! Today I am more than happy to celebrate the men in my life… I choose to celebrate them for stepping up instead of stepping out, for providing, for assisting us women, for healing, for showing up physically and most importantly for showing up emotionally,” she wrote.
“In my life I’ve witnessed a great majority of father’s run from their responsibilities. I now understand that they were running from their own pain but children were left behind. I understand they couldn’t properly communicate with women so kids suffered the consequence of their absence. I understand they needed validation and most times it was sought after outside of the home. And it was quite painful for all of us who knew this upbringing.”

Lamar and Alford started dating while they were students at Centennial High School, and they have been together ever since. They were engaged in April 2015, and in July 2019, they had their first child and appear to be expecting another in 2022.
Whitney Alford, who had remained out of the spotlight for the most of Kendrick Lamar’s career, took a key part on Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, asking her fiancé to go to counseling and speak his truth while narrating songs like “United in Grief,” “Father Time,” and “We Cry Together.”
On the melancholy song “Mother I Sober,” Kendrick addressed their relationship in an open (though not unexpected) way and revealed to cheating on his high school love, with whom he became engaged in 2015. “Intoxicated, there’s a lustful nature that I failed to mention/Insecurities that I project, sleepin’ with other women/Whitney’s hurt, the pure soul I know, I found her in the kitchen/Askin’ God, ‘Where did I lose myself? And can it be forgiven?’” he rapped.
Fans, on the other hand, were unaware that the rapper and his fiancée were expecting their second kid, therefore the album artwork was unexpected.

Kendrick Lamar’s family was a part of the Artwork of his comeback album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”. The project topped the Billboard 200 with 295,500 equivalent units in the first week. In the song titled “United in Grief” from Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Whitney Alford also provided assistance in the into of the track.

On Sunday, Kendrick Lamar won three awards at the Grammys and his children were at home to support him. Kendrick’s wife, Whitney Alford, shared a touching video on her Instagram Story showing Kendrick receiving the award for Best Rap Album during the live broadcast, as his 3-year-old daughter Uzi watched with excitement.
Uzi, who appeared to be dressed up for the occasion, reacted as “daddy” accepted the award. “They’re talking about us!” she told her mom. “He’s talking about his family, Uzi and Enoch and mommy.”
“A lot of times, we play with the idea and don’t necessarily know if it’s real, until you feel it. My children allowed me, in their development as human beings beginning to walk and talk, to remove my ego, to know that my children, too, will have their own independence,” Kendrick said in an interview with W Magazine, “That allows me to understand the unconditional love on my end.”
He continued, “Will I allow them to be themselves? Will I allow them to journey off in the world and experience life for what they know of? That’s love, to me.”
