Terrace Martin announces the new album “Drones” with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and more.
While we’re waiting for the highly anticipated new album from Kendrick Lamar, he continues blessing us with more guest verses. Producer/Composer Terrace Martin, who has previously worked with K. Dot, has announced his brand new album “Drones“. The project will feature new music from Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla Sign, YG, Leon Bridges, Cordae, James Fauntleroy, and more. The project with 13 tracks is set to drop later this week on November 5th.
“There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” Terrace said about his album in a statement. “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”
Kendrick Lamar will feature on the title track, along with Ty Dolla Sign, James Fauntleroy, and Snoop Dogg.
Speaking to Stereogum, Martin details the meaning behind the album title. “I’ll tell you when we started first, ’cause it really is important for the definition,” he said. “It started off — man, I’ve been working on this shit for so long. My last record came out in 2016, I think, Velvet Portraits. I’m slow now, working on records. But shortly after I finished To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick was looking for a studio to work in in LA, and he found one. Him and [Derek] Ali found a little private studio in Santa Monica and I was doing all kinds of music at the crib at that time, too. I was listening to a lot of Club Nouveau and this group called Loose Ends at the time, back to back to back, and I came across little ideas that I felt could probably be something.”
Kendrick Lamar recently assisted Baby Keem on a couple of songs off his album “The Melodic Blue“.
