Kendrick Lamar made his return with his first album in five years “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers“, and he claimed the most streamed hip-hop project on Spotify in 2022.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, opening with 295,000 album-equivalent units that consisted of 35,000 album sales and 258,000 streaming units, with 343.02 million on-demand streams.
According to Chart Data, Kendrick’s album received over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify from its release through the end of 2022. This made him the first rapper to have a 2022 release surpass one billion streams on the platform, a feat he had previously achieved with another album in August. This marks the fourth time Kendrick has reached this milestone.
The project was released in May, and it was Kendrick Lamar’s final album through the TDE label. It was a double disc project with 9 tracks on each side, and guest appearances from Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Kodak Black, Taylour Paige, Blxst, Baby Keem, Tanna Leone and more.
In the most-streamed rappers’ list, Kendrick Lamar earned the fifth most plays on Spotify with 5.7 billion.
