LeBron James makes NBA History.
LeBron James has made history on the basketball court as the legendary player has become NBA’s all time leading scorer after breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s decades-old record. James scored 38 points during Los Angeles Lakers’ 133-130 home loss against Oklahoma City Thunder, which took his all-time point tally to 38,390.
“To be able to be in the presence of such a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me. It’s very humbling,” he said. “Everybody that has ever been a part of this run with me the last 20-plus years, I want to say thank you so much because I wouldn’t be me without all you.”
After the record-breaking feat, the hip-hop fraternity took to social media to congratulate LeBron James. He was greeted by the like of JAY-Z, LL Cool J, Floyd Mayweather, Usher and more who were presented at the stadium during the game.
“To see you with this type of accomplishment, it always gives a confirmation of: you can be great, no matter where you come from,” Kendrick Lamar said in a clip shared by NBA. “From the time you went to the league and you had the doubters and the naysayers and the people that think you wouldn’t take it this far, you proved them wrong, dawg.”
“I am so grateful to witness this moment in history. My favorite thing about being a LeBron James fan is just watching you prove yourself over and over again, against all odds and all doubts,” says Rihanna. “Thank you for repping for all of us. Keep striving for greatness always, and congratulations, King James.”
While celebrating LeBron James’ “legendary night,” Drake added to the festivities by playfully pretending to be in LeBron’s hometown of Akron, Ohio. However, a green screen exposed that he was actually at a club. “I lied to you. I’m actually still at the club in Miami,” he said. He also left a congratulatory message for his friend on his Instagram story, where the girls at the club also conveyed.
“Congratulations my brother @kingjames they probably will have something new to say tmrw but for now enjoy the praise which is like silence to us,” wrote Drake in his IG story.
