Kendrick Lamar joins 100m Spotify Club with new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”.

This week was big for Hip-Hop fans as Kendrick Lamar finally dropped his long-awaited new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”, a follow up to 2017’s Pulitzer-winning effort “DAMN.” There were only a few other music releases on the same day, and K. Dot showed his domination on music streaming platforms.

Today, King Kunta occupied the entire top 18 on the US Spotify chart today with every song from his latest studio effort. According to Chart Data, Kendrick’s new project earned over 100 million streams on Global Spotify, the biggest of his career. With this achievement, he became the sixth artist to cross the 100 million mark on Spotify.

Apple Music, on the other hand, has announced that ‘Mr. Morale & Big Steppers’ has the highest first-day stream for any album launched on their platform this year. The album was so huge that both Spotify & Apple Music both crashed when Kendric Lamar debuted his album.

Kendrick now has the fourth biggest album debut in global Spotify History. The list is topped by Drake with his last year’s album “Certified Lover Boy” which earned 155 million on the first day. The second on the list is Puerto Rican Rapper Bad Bunny with his new album “Un Verano Sin Ti” with 146 million debut. Drake also takes the third spot with his album “Scorpion” with 132 million first-day streams.

Lamar’s new album is a double-disc project with 18 tracks, and guest appearances from Kodak Black, Blxst, Baby Keem, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah and more. Along with the album, he also announced a world tour titled “The Big Steppers” where Baby Keem and Tanna Leone will support him.
