Kendrick Lamar Attends Black Lives Matter Protests in Compton

Kendrick Lamar joins Black Lives Matter protests in Compton.

The Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality continue to happen around the world after the murder of George Floyd. A lot of rappers including, J. Cole, Wale, Kanye West, Machine Gun Kelly already took part in the protests in different cities, and now the latest artist attending the protests is none other than Kendrick Lamar.

Kendrick Lamar has made a lot of music on the subjects like Police brutality, injustice to black people, racism, & more, and his track ‘Alright‘ has been the anthem in the protests in a lot of cities. Kendrick Lamar protested in Compton with the likes of DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook.

After his label, Top Dawg Entertainment, released a statement and a list of resources to support the battle for Black lives, Lamar decided to attend. “We are empowered in solidarity with our brothers and sisters within the Black community, and our allies of every creed and color,” the label’s statement reads in part. “The time is now for immediate change. These injustices must stop.

Lamar established pgLang, a “new multilingual, at service firm,” earlier this year. He and the Weeknd were also sued over a track from last year’s Black Panther soundtrack.

The protest was also supported by NBA players Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan, as well as the Compton Cowboys. “Protect your team and your family.” In times like this, we need to stick together,” Westbrook said during the march, before addressing the gathering in a minute of remembrance for police brutality victims George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. “It’s impossible for you to understand what happen today if you don’t understand the past.”
