Kanye West wants to edit the “jeen-Yuhs” documentary before it releases.
As announced, Netflix is going to release the first part of Kanye West’s new docu-series “jeen-Yuhs” next month on February 16. The Documentary has been in the work for 21 years and was reportedly sold to Netflix for $30 million. The film is directed by Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah, the duo who also made Ye’s “Through the Wire” and third video of “Jesus Walks”.
However, it is now revealed that Netflix and the creators of the film didn’t yet get the approval from Kanye West for the release, as the “DONDA” rapper issues message regarding the final touches to the documentary. “I’m going to say this kindly for the last time,” he wrote on his social media. “I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix. Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image. Thank you in advance.”

Netflix recently dropped a second trailer for the upcoming released, which showed Ye after his wisdom tooth removal, making music in the studio with Jay-Z, being at home with his mother Donda, and more.
The first trailer of the documentary showed unseen Kanye West footages, including a younger Yeezy rapping “Two Words” alongside Mos Def. The song appeared on his debut album “The College Dropout”, which was released in 2004.
Speaking to Variety this week, Simmons said that West told him he trusted him “100%” with the cut of the film, but acknowledged: “When his team and the business people have gotten involved, they’re of course going to have their say. But I needed to tell this story. It’s not about making Kanye likeable or not. The footage doesn’t lie. What makes the film special is that it’s not something definitive; it’s his journey through my vision.”
