Kanye West wins big at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards took place earlier tonight at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which was hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs, who also executive produced the show alongside Robert Deaton.
Olivia Rodrigo was the top winner at this year’s event, as she took home the award in seven categories. Doja Cat was the most nominated female artist with 14 noms, and she won the four categories. The Weeknd was the most nominated male artist with 17 noms, but he only won in one category.
Drake took his tally of BBMAs to 34, with five wins tonight. The Toronto rap star took home Top Rap Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Artist and Top Rap Album for his latest studio effort “Certified Lover Boy”.
Kanye West, now known as Ye was also one of the top winners this year, as he swept the Christian and Gospel categories with six awards. The “DONDA” rapper won the Top Christian Artist, Top Gospel Artist, Top Gospel Song, Top Christian Song and Top Christian Album categories. Kanye West now ties with the Detroit Rapper Eminem for seventh place on the all-time BBMA leaderboard, with a total of 17 awards.
The award for best duo/group and top single sales artist went to the K-Pop group BTS. Taylor Swift received honors for top country artist, best female country artist, and best country album. Ed Sheeran was named the top Billboard worldwide (outside the United States) artist.
For their “No Filtered Tour,” the Rolling Stones received accolades for best tour and best rock tour. The best soundtrack prize went to “Encanto,” the Disney feature famed for the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”
