Joey Badass share details of his eye damage from the Solar Eclipse.
Joey Badass is prepping the release of his long-awaited new studio album “2000” which is all set to drop this Friday. The rapper has been more active than ever on his Twitter, and now he shares some details of the story that his eye got damaged from a solar eclipse in 2017. The Brooklyn rapper revealed that the Solar Eclipse never affected his eyes, and he just used it as an excuse to get off from Logic’s “Everybody” Tour.
“Speaking of solar eclipses, you know I never got any type of eye damage from that solar eclipse sh*t that ‘happened,’” he wrote. “I just really wanted an excuse to be off the Logic tour. Blogs literally created a story and I went with it because it was convenient for me at the time.”
He continued. “But it was also funny to see how gullible people are. It taught me a valuable lesson, whatever the media puts out in unison, people will simply believe. Even if the source isn’t validated. Scary world.” “And logic is my ni**a btw. I ain’t with no logic slander. The tour just wasn’t serving me well at the time.”
On August 21, 2017, Joey Bada$$ tweeted about seeing the solar eclipse before postponing his forthcoming performances the next day. “Am I crazy for watching the eclipse today w no glasses?” he said at the time. “I’ve sungazed before and afterwards saw colors for a whole day. I didn’t die tho. This ain’t the first solar eclipse and I’m pretty sure our ancestors ain’t have no fancy eyewear. Also pretty sure they ain’t all go blind.” He tweeted the next day, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, my Cleveland, Chicago & Toronto shows on the #EverybodyTour are cancelled.”
Joey Bada$$ had just released his ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ album at the time, while Logic had just released Everybody. They stopped by the tour bus to spit a freestyle during their time on the road.
Diddy, Westside Gunn, Larry June, Chris Brown, Capella Grey, and JID all make cameos on the album 2000. Erick the Architect, McClenney, Mike Will Made It, Kirk Knight, and Cardiak also contributed to the album’s production, which was helmed by Statik Selektah and Chuck Strangers.
The NYC rapper will spend the rest of July visiting San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, and Santa Ana before wrapping up in Los Angeles as part of his 1999–2000 summer North American tour with Capella Grey.
