Joe Budden weighs in on Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy win.
Following the Grammy Awards 2026 a few days ago, Joe Budden has his say on Kendrick Lamar sweeping the rap categories. In the latest episode of his podcast, Budden states that he wanted Clipse’s “Let God Sort Em Out” over Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” for the Best Rap Album award.
“I wanted Clipse to win, but as I was watching, I was like, ‘Okay, it’s still levels.’ Like, Hip Hop had me wanting Clipse to win… But once you see Doechii up there presenting, you see Kendrick got dressed, and you see that he’s still there,” he said. “Once he won early, I was like, ‘Okay, he wants to get the f–k out of here.’ But once the show is going and he’s still sitting there… As long as Clipse got a win, I’m fine… I’m not frustrated with Kendrick winning that one.”
Kendrick Lamar, who was nominated in nine categories for the event, has officially broken the record for most wins for a rap artist. Dot won the rap categories for Record of the Year – “Luther” (with SZA), Best Rap Album – GNX, Best Rap Song – TV Off (as songwriter), Best Melodic Rap Performance – “Luther” and Best Rap Performance – “Chains & Whips” (with Clipse).
“It is hip-hop as usual, man. I’m not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music. It’s an honor to be here. Hip-hop is going to always be right here. We are going to be in these suits looking good, having our folks with us. We are going to be having the culture with us. So I appreciate y’all. God is to glory. Love y’all,” he said during his acceptance speech for Best Rap Album.
