Jessie Reyez Reveals How Hailie Jade Helped Her Connect With Eminem

Jessie Reyez Reveals How Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Helped Start Their Collaboration.

Singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez recently shared the story behind how she first connected with Eminem, and it turns out his daughter Hailie Jade played a major role in making it happen.

During an appearance on The Tom Green Farm podcast, Reyez looked back on the early days of her relationship with the Detroit rap icon. While Marshall had already noticed her talent, she explained that it was Hailie who helped turn that admiration into a real collaboration.

According to Reyez, the story began after the Detroit rapper saw her perform one of her songs on television. Although he enjoyed what he saw, nothing immediately came from it.

Reyez recalled: “He saw me performing on a nighttime television show on TV, I was doing the song I have called ‘Gatekeeper.’ And then fast forward to a few months, he was like ‘oh that’s cool’ but that’s kind of where it ended.”

At that point, it seemed like the opportunity had passed. However, Hailie Jade apparently became a fan of Reyez’s music and encouraged her father to take another look.

Sharing the story, Reyez revealed: “And then a few months later his daughter [Hailie] put it in front of him again and was like ‘you should reach out Jessie.’ That sh-t’s poppin’. And then their team reached out to ours and we got into the studio and then we started making music.”

That recommendation eventually led to a creative partnership that has lasted for years.

After getting into the studio together, Em and Reyez quickly developed strong chemistry. The pair went on to collaborate on several songs, becoming one of the most memorable artist partnerships of the last decade.
