JAY-Z earns another RIAA Diamond with “Empire State of Mind.”
JAY-Z has now achieved another new RIAA Diamond certification with his Alicia Keys classic collab “Empire State of Mind.” The song has now sold over 10 million units in the US, and becomes JAY-Z’s third track to achieve this milestone. The rap icon previously earned Diamonds for “Ni**as In Paris” with Kanye West and “Umbrella” with Rihanna.
The New York anthem “Empire State of Mind” with Alicia Keys was released back in 2009 as part of JAY-Z’s 11th studio album “The Blueprint 3”. The track debuted at #1 on US Billboard Hot 100, and stayed on top for five consecutive weeks, becoming Jay-Z’s first number-one single on the chart as a lead artist.

Just last month, Hov and Keys celebrated the song’s 1 billion streams on Spotify. “1 Dream, 1 Song, 1 Billion streams [prayer hands emojis]. Thank you! We love you. What’s next…. [eyes emoji] [shushing emoji].” Following the achievement, they made an appearance at 2024 Tony Awards for the live performance of the classic.
