J. Cole Reveals The Off-Season Song That Had A Lot Of Cap

J. Cole details his song having a lot of exaggeration.

J. Cole recently headlined the second day of Rolling Loud New York, where he gave an incredible performance while the rain was pouring down. He performed some of his recent tracks, as well as some old classics. Before performing his song “100 Mil” featuring label mate Bas, J. Cole revealed that the lyrics were not completely true.

“This next song contains a high level of, it’s a large amount, it’s a very big quantity of cap in this next song,” says J. Cole. “I ain’t gon’ lie, I’m doing a lot of cappin’ in this next song. It’s a lot of exaggeration of the truth. But the spirit of this song, the message behind this muthaf**kin’ song, is 100 percent true.”

He continues, “What this song is about is, it don’t matter how f**king far you get in this life, how successful you become, how much money you make, don’t lose that f**king hunger, that drive, that passion for that shit that got you there in the first f**king place. New York City, don’t do it.

While it’s unclear what J. Cole is exaggerating about, he compares himself to LeBron James and considers himself to be on the Mount Rushmore of rap in the song’s verses. T-Minus, who also collaborated on three other tracks on The Off-Season, co-produced “100 Mil’.” On May 29, the song reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
