Hit-Boy talks about working with The Game on “Drillmatic”.
This past week, The Game finally released his new 30-track album “Drillmatic – Heart vs Mind“, with executive production from Hit-Boy. Among other star-studded tracks, the most talked about song was “The Black Slim Shady“, a 10-minute song where the Compton rapper takes shots at Eminem.
In the long 4 verse song, the Game first copies Eminem’s rapping style, then goes at the rapper while name-dropping 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Royce da 5’9″, his ex-wife Kim, his daughter Hailie Jade and more. “Drop the world on your head with one arm / Dear Slim, Hailie’s with me and she’s unharmed for now (Dad, I’m really scared),” he raps.

Hit-Boy, who contributed to the track with production, now revealed that it was a tribute song to the Detroit Rapper. “The Black Slim Shady sh*t, the first half, he’s [The Game] paying homage to slim, that was the half I produced,” he said. “I love my ni**a Game and I love Eminem too. The Game started going crazy in the second half, I didn’t hear the second half.”
The duo discussed how they “decided it was time for a Game and Hit-Boy record,” with Grammy-winning executive producer Hit-Boy joining them.
Regarding his collaboration with Hit-Boy on a project, The Game remarked, “He motivated me, got me all the way out the house,” The Game said of his creative partnership with Hit-Boy. “I don’t do no rapper stuff, but everything that I am and everything that I got going on now … rapping the way that I’m rapping, it’s all because of him.” The Game continued by saying he he began work on the song because of “conversations about life,” previous shootings, and the deaths of prominent rappers.
