Hip-Hop Fraternity Reacts To The Death of Young Dolph

Rap community pays tribute to Young Dolph.

On Wednesday afternoon, the internet was hit with the shocking news of the death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph. The 36-year-old was shot and killed in his hometown, outside a cookie store. Maurice Hill, the owner of the shop where the shooting happened, Makeda’s Butter Cookies, told FOX13 his employees said Young Dolph, 36, walked into the store to buy cookies. Someone then drove up and shot and killed him at the South Memphis bakery.

22 wounds on Dolph’s body appear to have been inspected by investigators. Six injuries, all to the back, were classified as entry wounds. On the left side, the chest and abdomen each had three exit wounds.

Police called the shooting “senseless” and said, “our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who were affected by this horrific act of violence.”

The Paper Route Empire rapper released his “Dum and Dummer 2” project with Key Glock in March, followed by his label compilation album “Paper Route Illuminati.”

Dolph passed the test of time with his innumerable mixtapes and albums, as well as his current transition into an executive role with the launch of his label, Paper Route EMPIRE. Dolph, who had chart success and became a social media celebrity, will be deeply mourned by the hip hop world. The hip hop community poured out their feelings for Young Dolph when the news of his death was verified.

After the news of Young Dolph’s death broke out, fans and fellow artists took to social media to pay tribute to the Memphis legend. “R.I.P. to my friend Dolph this broke my heart,” wrote Gucci Mane. “Damn man, me and Dolph used to be next door neighbors. Smh. RIP DOLPH,” said Lil Yachty. “Sending love to the family ,friends, & fans of @YoungDolph Rest in power young Brother. I pray your children and family are covered and lifted up by the almighty,” shared LL Cool J. “I am sooo sick rn I am in disbelief! Praying for his family and friends ! Rest In Peace to my friend a true legend dolph,” wrote Megan Thee Stallion.

Megan Thee Stallion, who collaborated with Dolph on “RNB,” posted on Instagram “Everybody that know me knows I play this man music EVERY DAY ! He was so genuine so real so kind to me and tfarris always !!! Rest In Peace to a real legend.”

Mia Jaye, Young Dolph’s children’s mother, sent a devastating message that said, “Question is … How am I going to tell my babies that daddy is never coming home? God give me strength … Adolph I love you with all my heart and soul. “Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers, love, support, calls, messages … I may not see them all but when my eyes are not full of tears, I catch a few … Nonetheless, all the genuine positive vibes, energy and prayers are welcome … because Lord knows I need them …”
