Fabolous wants to work with Eminem & Nas.
Eminem is one of the greatest to hold the mic in hip-hop music and that is why most of the artists want to work with him at least once in their careers. After many other music celebs, Fabolous also showed the desire to collaborate with Eminem and also with Nas. Last week Fabolous was invited to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Cyclone roller coaster at Luna Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn where he sat down with XXL for an exclusive interview.
Fabolous has been putting in work for decades, and his bars are still as crisp as they were when he first started. Loso spoke with 99Jamz’ Supa Cindy and DJ Entice about his past, present, and future ambitions ahead of the release of his upcoming “Summertime Shootout 3” album on Friday. While there’s a lot to take away from the nearly-hour-long talk, Fab made sure to mention some of his long-awaited collaborations.
In the interview, he remembered Prodigy, who passed away last month, and also talked about his dream collaboration. “I think it would be to collaborate with Eminem and maybe Nas.” Says Fabolous. “Not the same song, but I would love to collaborate with them. Those are the only two people right now. I’ve pretty music collaborated with almost everybody except for a lot of the new generation. But those are just my dream collabs. Their lyricism and growing up with their music as well…I’m not even a forcer. I’ve had this thought for years, but if I don’t have the right song, I’ll have to wait until the time comes. I gotta hurry up though.”
“Even like the Prodigy thing, I was like, Man, you can’t take advantage of time. Prodigy actually sent me a song to do, but he said he hadn’t finished it. He sent me what the start of it was. I said, “Alright, I like it. It sounds cool. When you’re ready, let’s go.” But we never got to finish it. It might be dope to revisit it. I don’t know if it’s finished enough to his liking, you know what I mean? But maybe it would be cool for people to hear something new from him before [he passed].”
Fabolous has delved into community work in addition to music. “I’m actually now trying to put it together – I don’t think it’ll be ready for this summer, but for next summer – I want to bring back my hood’s old basketball tournament because they stopped it like two years ago. And I know how much that meant for me during the summers to be able to look forward to doing something. Kids that can’t go away, kids that are in the projects the whole summer, that was something I was excited about! I had my schedule, what day the games were, go out every morning and shoot around to get prepared.”
