Eminem’s new album “Kamikaze” debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200.
Eminem’s surprise album Kamikaze is off to a fast start, as the record is expected to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week, with one of the biggest weeks for an album this year. Eminem released his surprise 10th studio album ‘Kamikaze‘ last week via Shady/Aftermath/Interscope and it sold over 434,000 units with 252,000 comes from traditional sales. The album debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200 this week and it’s Eminem’s 9th consecutive album which debuted at number 1, only his first album ‘The Slim Shady LP‘ debuted at number 2 back in 1999. The new album is expected to another week on the top spot of Billboard 200 as the physical copies have also hit the stores which will help boost the figures.
Eminem’s 10th studio album clearly surpassed his previous effort ‘Revival‘ which was released last year and only moved 267k copies in the first week with 197k from traditional sales. Eminem released two albums in less than a year and both debuted at number 1 on the Billboard chart.
What size will “Kamikaze” grow to be? Because of its surprise release, the fact that it’s only available as a digital album (the first time an Eminem album hasn’t been available on CD in its first week), and the impact of the long Labor Day holiday weekend on consumer behavior, forecasting Kamikaze’s debut frame is a little more difficult than usual. Kamikaze will be released on CD on September 7th.
Eminem’s new album ‘Kamikaze’ has the fourth-biggest numbers in the first week this year, just behind Drake’s ‘Scorpion‘ (732k), Travis Scott’s ‘Astroworld‘ (537k), and Post Malone’s ‘beerbongs & bentleys‘ (461k).
