Eminem details collaborating with Juice WRLD on “Godzilla”.
A couple of years ago, Eminem released his most recent album “Music To Be Murdered By”, which was laced with a Juice WRLD collaboration titled “Godzilla“. In the conversation with Paul Rosenberg on his podcast, the Detroit rapper remembers the talented late rapper.
“We had been talking about Juice Wrld for a little while. And we just wanted to do something with him,” says Eminem. “The one thing that I showed you of him, he was rapping over some of your instrumentals. It was Westwood, and he was crushing these old Eminem instrumentals. I was like yo you gotta hear this kid, he’s destroying your record. So you were excited about it, you liked it and we thought there’s gonna be an opportunity for you to do something with him one day,” says Rosenberg.
Eminem continued, “I remember I had a different hook on it (Godzilla) and I never was really crazy about it. I think that I had the verses and that was the kind of the reason we just asked him if he would do the hook. He sent us back two things that were great and the first one was that Monster hook. I was like ‘holy s**t.’” “What a talent,” responds Rosenberg.
With close to 1 billion Spotify streams and a 3X Platinum certification as of this writing, “Godzilla” has become a monster smash, much like its chorus. The song’s Lyrical Lemonade video clip, which was directed by Juice’s regular partner Cole Benett, was also made public.
