Eminem Wins Genius Community's 2020 Lyricist of the Year

Eminem is Genius’ Lyricist of the year.

Genius recently organized their second Lyricist of the year battle, where fans voted for their favorite artists from a competitive field of 16 rappers. The results are finally in and the Rap God emerged victorious after beating Lil Uzi Vert. The full list of rappers was picked by Rob Markman, Lil Kim, and Twista on a recent episode of Genius’ ‘For The Record‘ podcast.

Eminem was one of the Top Artists this year and gave us a successful project “Music To Be Murdered By” earlier this year which debuted at #1 on Billboard 200. The album debuted at No. 1 after selling 279,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The Detroit rapper made history by becoming the first performer to record ten straight No. 1 albums. Hits from the album were “Darkness” and “Godzilla.” Additionally, Em made cameos on Kid Cudi’s “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady,” Jessie Reyez’s “Coffin,” and Big Sean’s “Friday Night Cypher.” He is rumored to release a ‘Side-B‘ deluxe version later this week.
