Eminem to celebrate “The Eminem Show” 20th Anniversary with an Expanded Edition release.
Eminem has been quiet since the Super Bowl Halftime show, but the rapper last week appeared on Pete Davidson’s final SNL episode, and announced a new collaboration “The King & I” with CeeLo Green and Dr. Dre, from the “Elvis” movie soundtrack.
The Detroit rapper is now planning to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his fourth studio album “The Eminem Show” with an expanded version. “Well, if you want Shady, this is what I’ll give ya” #TheEminemShow 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition drops Thursday 5/26,” he wrote on his social media. The new version could feature some unreleased tracks, some demos or other versions of previously released songs.

The project is one of the most successful and loved in Eminem’s catalog, and it recently became his first project to surpass 4 billion streams on Spotify and the first from 2000s. The album was released in 2002 through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. The album is one of the top works of Eminem’s career and it includes commercially successful singles like “Without Me”, “Superman”, “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”, and “Sing for the Moment”.
On its first day, The Eminem Show sold over 284,000 copies, making it the best-selling album of 2002. It is now one of the best-selling albums of all time, and the second best-selling album of the twenty-first century, with over 27 million copies sold. It was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Rap Album at the 2003 Grammy Awards, while “Without Me” won Best Music Video.
It won the Grammy Award at the 2003 Grammys for Best Rap Album as it was the best-selling album of 2002 in the US with over 7.6 million copy sales and it topped the charts in 19 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The 20 track album became certified Diamond on March 7, 2011, making it his second album to receive that award after his third studio album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.

Just a few days ago, SNL aired a teaser featuring Eminem. Over the weekend, Eminem made a rare surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live as the cast said farewell to veteran cast member Pete Davidson. In one of his final skits, Davidson rapped along to another Eminem track, this time to Dr. Dre’s 2001 hit “Forgot About Dre.” The music abruptly stops at the conclusion of the song, aptly named “Forgot About Lorne [Michaels],” and Eminem appears to be annoyed with Davidson. “Pete, what you doing, man?” he asks. “It’s another parody, another tribute or something? I would just stop. Yeah, they all suck,” to which Davidson replies, “Do you not like the videos or you just don’t like me?” Shady responds, “Just please stop. It’s really bad.” But Davidson claims, “Honestly, we just do these ’cause we love you so much Marshall. They’re like a tribute.” Eminem wasn’t saying anything but though, “Pete, don’t f**king do it again.”
