Eminem Says Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole Are Keeping Lyrical Rap Alive

Eminem praises Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.

Eminem recently did a new interview with Sway in the Morning through a phone call where he talks about a lot of things including some more appreciation for Kendrick Lamar and Jermaine Cole. “I think that as artists and just as hip-hop connoisseurs to pay attention to what’s out,” said Eminem. “Pay attention to all the new sh*t that’s coming out because a lot of these kids coming up, they’ve studied the greats and you can tell and just watching them is incredible because you might get to push back on certain sides of the argument about hip-hop like ‘okay nobody’s really saying lyrics anymore and this’ but that’s bullsh*t because a lot of these kids coming up and I mention Kendrick Lamar and Cole a lot,” says Eminem. “I know they’re not kids coming up anymore but they came before or after us. They’ve studied all the greats and you can tell because it goes into their pen.

Eminem took to the radio to praise the next generation of rappers that value strong lyrical content. Lyrics that are thoughtful, entertaining, or innovative are the foundation of excellent hip-hop music. Naturally, Eminem neglected to include several of today’s most popular rappers, such as Post Malone.

He also praised Don Toliver and deceased Juice WRLD who appeared on Eminem’s latest album ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘. “Don Toliver’s dope as fu*k,” said Eminem. “Juice WRLD man is like the freestyle that he did on Tim Westwood and rap for like an hour straight was incredible especially for coming off the top. A lot of people just can’t do that and they don’t know that there’s an art to be able to do that.

It’s keen to see that Kendrick Lamar has been inspired by Eminem but Did Eminem inspire K Dot?
Eminem rapped “I inspired the Hopsins, the Logics, the Coles, the Seans, the K-Dots, the 5’9″s”; Eminem used to shout out people who inspired him, but now he shouts out those who have been influenced by him. He’s completed the circle.

Regardless of his dominance in the game, Em is well-versed in contemporary society “I keep my finger on the pulse of everything that’s out because I don’t want to get swept away with the tide.”

Also, Sway questioned about the recent donation of Mom’s Spaghetti meals to healthcare workers and how it came about “Me and Paul have actually just been talking about some of the ways that we can do out part and help out,” said Eminem. “And Mom’s spaghetti was one of the things came up so we talked about that.”

Beginning May 2 at 12:00 ET on Shade45, Eminem will also host his own broadcast, “Music To Be Quarantined By,” which will feature hip-hop tracks he suggests listening to while at home.
