Eminem reacts to Killer Mike Speech, shows his support.
Thousands of people flocked to the streets this weekend in Atlanta and other major US cities in protest of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and other victims of police brutality. Killer Mike joined T.I. and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in making passionate pleas to protesters not to set fire to the city. On Friday night, Killer Mike joins T.I., Dr. Bernice King, and Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to encourage rioters to stop destroying their home city during the nationwide protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
“I got a lot of love and respect for police officers down to the original eight police officers in Atlanta that even after becoming police, had to dress in a YMCA because white officers didn’t want to get dressed with ni**ers,” said Killer Mike. “Here we are 80 years later, I watched a white officer assassinate a black man and I know that tore your heart out. I have nothing positive to say at this moment because I don’t want to be here.”
Killer Mike urged Atlantans to support systemic change rather than vandalism as a form of protest.
“I am duty-bound to be here to simply say: That it is your duty not to burn your own house down for anger with an enemy. It is your duty to fortify your own house, so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organization. And now is the time to plot, plan, strategize, organize, and mobilize.”
The speech got the attention of the Detroit rapper Eminem who reacted to it through his Twitter. He shouted out Killer Mike and said he’s with him. “I’m with @killermike on this one. Incredibly well done.” wrote Eminem. A couple of days ago Eminem also shared his ‘Untouchable‘ track of ‘Revival‘ and asked people to ‘Speak Up‘.
