A few days ago Eminem’s classic ‘The Marshall Mathers LP‘ completed 20 years and to celebrate it, he announced a listening party along with a live chat with fans. The listening party took place last night along with the live chat where Eminem answered a lot of fans’ questions.
Eminem took some time out of his schedule on Wednesday afternoon (May 27) to meet up and speak with fans during a streaming party organized by Spotify on his website in honor of The Marshall Mathers LP’s 20th anniversary.
In its first week, the Marshall Mathers LP sold 1.78 million copies, making it one of the fastest-selling studio albums in the United States. The album sold twice as many copies in its first week in the United States than the previous hip hop record holder, Snoop Dogg’s 1993 album Do**ystyle. The Marshall Mathers LP sold over 800,000 copies in its second week, 600,000 in its third week, and 520,000 in its fourth week, for a four-week total of 3.65 million.
Around 3:10 p.m. ET, The Real Slim Shady entered the chat area and began answering queries from enraged fans who had flooded the glitchy website. He acknowledges that his favorite lyric from the album is the second verse on “I’m Back,” in which he considers the impact of his music on the globe.
During the live chat, Eminem reveals his favorite verse, his favorite song, the show he’s been watching in quarantine, favorite actors, favorite 50 cent album, favorite video game, favorite boxer, the most underrated rapper, favorite Avenger, and much more. Check them out below.
