Eminem talks about Nas’ “Illmatic” on Clubhouse.
Earlier today, Eminem dropped some rare collectibles in his first NFT release on Nifty Gateway, and for promo run, he made his debut on the social media app Clubhouse. In his first conversation, he was joined by Paul Rosenberg and DJ Whoo Kid, and some other people. The full conversation is not available yet but a short part which was leaked online, Eminem talks about getting an expensive sealed copy of Nas’ album “Illmatic“.
The Clubhouse discussion over Eminem’s NFT release devolved into a discussion of his personal music collection. And it became clear that Marshall was looking for recordings that were both sealed and clean. He’s baffled as to how and why people would want to keep it that way. He would never do such a thing. Eminem truly listens to his tapes as he opens them.
It’s open, but I got it opened. I just opened it. And my most coveted is probably “Illmatic”. That’s f**king sick, man. “I could not find Nas’ Illmatic anywhere. I finally found one and it costed like $600 for the sealed copy because who the f**k would own ‘Illmatic’ and didn’t open it? Nobody.” said Eminem. “I think it’s just back stock what record stores had in their back storage and the tapes that never sold. So they just kept them and sold them online. That’s the only thing I can think of because nobody’s gonna have a f**king “Illmatic” tape and not open it.”
