Eminem & Paul Rosenberg’s new interview for Billboard Cover story.
Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg Appear on the Cover Story for Billboard Magazine as they sat down for a new interview where they talk about lots of things including early ‘broke days’, courting controversy, Hip-Hop Future, and much more. Paul Rosenberg is the new Def Jam’s CEO and he talks about the label to start the interview.
Revival, Eminem’s first album in four years, was released three weeks previously, a blend of self-reflection, righteous indignation, and lyrical agility that made him the first artist in history to launch eight consecutive albums at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It also marked the conclusion of his longest layoff since a prescription medication addiction caused him to take a five-year vacation during the height of his fame, which included a near-fatal methadone overdose in 2007 (recounted in the Revival track “Arose”).
Eminem and Paul Rosenberg discuss their past, business pursuits, politics, “Revival,” and more as part of their “Power 100” edition. Rosenberg also discusses what it’s like to manage Em, as well as the blowback he’s had throughout his career. More photographs can be found below, and the whole article can be found on Billboard.
Revival is Eminem’s eighth straight number-one album on the US Billboard 200, where it debuted with 197,000 copies out of 267,000 album-equivalent units. As a consequence, Eminem became the first musical act to have eight consecutive entries debut at the top of the charts.
Revival debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 132,000 album-equivalent units, the year’s second greatest debut behind Ed Sheeran’s, and gave the rapper his eighth straight number-one album. In the United Kingdom, it sold 321,000 album-equivalent copies as of October 2018.
However, before Rosenberg could focus on his new job, he had to return to Detroit to promote Eminem’s new record. On Dec. 15, Revival was met with familiar criticism of the MC for the misogyny and sexism (or, for some, his political incorrectness) that remain in his lyrics, as well as equally polarised reactions to his scathing attacks on Donald Trump, which began in October with his explosive BET Hip-Hop Awards freestyle, “The Storm.”
As a result, a lot of ardent fans turned against the rapper, which he addressed with a new verse on the Revival track “Chloraseptic” following the album’s release.
