Eminem & Drake among the top 3 most viewed 2020 artists on Genius. Taylor Swift tops the list.
As the pandemic-centric 2020 year is coming to an end, The lyrics viewing platform Genius decided to share their most viewed artist and albums. The pop star Taylor Swift topped the list with over 3 million views, thanks to the two albums she released this year. Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” album is also the most viewed album on the platform. The second in the list is none other than Detroit’s Eminem, who gained over 2.8 million views on his lyrics, which also makes him the most viewed rapper on Genius 2020. He also released two projects this year, One is “Music To Be Murdered By” and the other one is in form of a Side-B Deluxe Version.
Genius was preparing to name Eminem the year’s biggest artist just a few days before the end of the monitoring period. Then came Taylor Swift’s “evermore“. Taylor Swift surpassed the Detroit rapper with over 31 million pageviews after releasing her second album of 2020 on December 11 (not to mention the tremendous popularity of July’s folklore). In the meantime, Em’s own late-2020 release, “Music to Be Murdered By: Side B”, narrowly missed the spot.
Despite the fact that Drake’s long-awaited sixth album, Certified Lover Boy, won’t be released until January, his Dark Lane Demo Tapes mixtape and singles like “Laugh Now Cry Later” and “Toosie Slide” helped him to the Number 3 slot. Because of the enormous popularity of March’s “After Hours”, The Weeknd rounded out the Top 5.
Eminem’s latest project is also the third most viewed album on the platform, after “Folklore” and “After Hours“. Drake comes third on the list, as he has around 1 million fewer views than Eminem. Check out the Top 20 artists below.
