Eminem’s mother Debbie Mathers reacts to Hall of Fame induction.
Just the other night, Eminem marked his name in the list of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as the rapper was inducted by his longtime mentor and friend Dr. Dre. The rapper received congratulations messages from his fellow rappers and now he also gets acknowledgement from his mother Debbie Mathers.
“Yes, I want to say, Marshall, I could not let this day go by, and congratulate you on your induction to [Rock & Roll] Hall of Fame,” she said in a video which was shared by her friend. “I love you very much, I knew you would get there. It’s been a long ride, I am very very proud of you and also I’m very proud of Hailie Jade. I wanna tell you Hailie, great job on your podcast. God bless you guys, love you very much.”
In his early career, Eminem dissed his mom on several ocassions in his songs, especially the track “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”. However, he eventually forgave her for the things she did in the 2013 “MMLP2” track “Headlights”.
Debbie sued her son for contempt in 1999 for $11 million, and she made reference to him in her 2008 autobiography, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem. Em apologised for attacking Debbie in the song “Headlights,” which was released in 2013. It’s unknown how their relationship is doing right now.
At the 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Eminem delivered an acceptance speech in the presence of his daughter Hailie. During his speech, he talked about his distinct position within the organization. “So I’m probably not supposed to actually be here tonight because of a couple of reasons. One of them that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And there’s only a few of us right now that have been inducted in already, but there’s only a few of us,” said the rapper.
