Eminem is among the most streamed Spotify artists in past 4 years. Only 90s artist in the list.
The Music Streaming platform Spotify has unveiled the year-end list of Top Artists in the industry. This year, the Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny topped the list of most-streamed artists on Spotify. The legendary Eminem, who’s closing in on the 50s is still one of the most streamed artists in the world as he’s ranked 13 on Spotify 2020 list, and also the only artist from the 90s to do so.
Not only 2020, but Eminem is also among the most streamed Spotify artist since 2017 as he managed to get into the Top 20 every year and still some people say that no one listens to the Detroit Rapper anymore.
With the exception of 2017’s gold-certified Revival, Eminem has continued to prosper commercially throughout the last decade, with each of his studio albums topping the charts and receiving platinum certifications. His critical reaction, on the other hand, has been less favorable. Since his return album Relapse in 2009, Eminem’s newer work has been panned as superficial and out of touch with current hip-hop trends. Rap’s previous provocateur-in-chief has turned into a snobby purist, deriding newer rappers who he believes are disrespectful of the art and the genre’s heritage.
Eminem is the oldest artist on Spotify’s end-of-decade list, at 47 years old. His career has extended more than two decades, and he just issued a 20th-anniversary version of The Slim Shady LP, his major-label debut. With two consecutive diamond albums under his belt, Eminem is the best-selling rapper of all time and the best-selling artist of the 2000s in the United States. He is, however, a remnant from the CD era, when enormous record sales were still uncommon, but not inconceivable as they are now. (Adelaide is the only artist to have two diamond albums in the 2010s, with 21 and 25.)
