Celebrities pay homage to Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh.
The iconic Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh passed away at the age of 41. The Rockford, Illinois artist had been battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer for over 2 years after getting diagnosed in 2019. “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend,” the statement from his family reads. “He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues.”

“My heart is broken. Virgil, you were a kind, generous, thoughtful creative genius. Your work as a human and your work as a spiritual being will live forever. Sending love and light to your wife, children, family and day ones. You’re with the Master now, shine,” wrote Pharrell.
In 2018, Abloh became the first Black man in Louis Vuitton’s legendary history to serve as the French design house’s director of men’s wear. He grew up outside of Chicago, learning to sew from his mother, a first-generation Ghanaian American seamstress.
Memsor Kamarake, a New York stylist who watched Abloh’s debut presentation in Paris, travelled in expressly for the ultimate homage, crying after the fireworks, “I felt like now I can finally grieve him.”
