Doja Cat and SZA win Grammy for “Kiss Me More”.
Doja Cat and SZA get their hands on the first-ever Grammy Award. Doja Cat, who was nominated in most, 8 categories as a rapper, only managed to win in one category at the 64th annual Grammy Awards. Doja was awarded a trophy in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her SZA collaboration “Kiss Me More“. The “Planet Her” track was also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Doja Cat almost managed to miss the acceptance speech, as she was in the bathroom. SZA arrived on the stage with crutches and got some help from Lady Gaga on the stairs. “Girl, you went to the bathroom for like five minutes, are you serious?,” says SZA to Doja Cat, who came running onto the stage. “Listen, I’ve never taken a piss so fast in my whole life,” says Doja to the audience.

She continues, “Thank you, everybody. I really appreciate it. Thank you to everybody… my family, my team. I wouldn’t be here without you and I wouldn’t be here without my fans. And you know what, SZA you are everything to me. You are incredible. You are the epitome of talent. You’re a lyricist. You’re everything. I just need you to say something – just something, please give them something.” “I’m glad you made it back in time,” responds SZA.

This delightful pop song rapidly won the heart of many Doja Cat fans once it was released last year. It’s popular for a reason: it’s entertaining, with a memorable chorus. It does, however, have a sluggish burn. Once the nominations were made public, it was evident that this was the standout tune for the nominees: Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga (“I Get a Kick Out of You”), Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco (“Lonely”), BTS (“Butter”), and Coldplay (“Higher Power”).
Doja Cat was nominated for seven honours going into the event. The sole award she received was for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Jon Batiste, Silk Sonic, and Olivia Rodrigo were the night’s top winners, each taking home five trophies.
