DJ Akademiks slams Meek Mill, says Drake never paid him for promotion.
Meek Mill’s latest fifth studio album “Expensive Pain” failed to get a top spot at Billboard 200 and only moved less than 100k equivalent units in the first week. The numbers are a huge downgrade from his last project “Championships”, which debuted at top of the charts with 229k in the first week. DJ Akademiks, who had been very critical of the Philadelphia rapper for the past few years, addresses the album being flopped in his recent twitch stream.
“Ni**a meek, you had to pay for posts and you still flop ni**a and that’s a fact,” says Akademiks. “I don’t care if you send it to me, I’ve seen everywhere where you’re sending that sh*t out so let me expose how much bread you were spending all right. I don’t really care to do this for other artists but a ni**a who was talking that arrogantly, acting like he that ni**a… you’re not that ni**a no more.”
Then went on to go through the Shade room’s IG page to show Meek Mill’s posts. “I was praying for times like this for three years,” he says. Akademiks says that this is crisis mode for every label when they realize their artists are about to flop, then they start spending a random amount of money. Then he revealed that his sources say Meek Mill spend 10 bands for the paid posts on social media. “Hey I don’t care what y’all say, y’all can call me a Drake stan or whatever, but Drake ain’t never paid for a f**kin post, it’s just real sh*t… I just f**k with this sh*t.”
Meek Mill sought to trash Akademiks’ name on Twitter in June 2020, thus escalating their e-war, “Akademiks cancelled because he’s a bad police and our culture don’t need them,” Meek wrote at the time. “He also gassed a lot of beef that got people killed and hurt and never donated a dollar to the culture! We gone holla at you next run champ lol.”
