Diddy says Dr. Dre is the only one he would do a VERZUZ battle against.
For the latest installment of VERZUZ Battles, Fat Joe and Ja Rule went up against each other at the Hulu Theater in New York’s Madison Square Garden. The duo played some of their hits, along with inviting guests like Remy Ma, Ashanti, Nelly, and Jadakiss. While the thousands were present at the stadium, millions of people were watching the live stream on the internet, along with many celebrities.
Diddy was also present in the comment section on IG, where he revealed the only artist he is up for a VERZUZ. Diddy named his fellow Rap Mogul Dr. Dre. “Only person I would do is dre,” wrote Diddy, making fans excited about the possible match-up. Last year, there were some rumors about Dr. Dre in talks with VERZUZ creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz for a match-up, but it never happened. “We’re definitely talking about it,” Diddy told Fat Joe. “You heard it here. You heard it here on the show.”
“So, when it gets down to the Verzuz conversation about Puff and JD [Jermaine Dupri], or me and 50 [Cent], that sh*t just hit different. It’s like, ‘Oh, okay what you think ni**a? What you trying to say,’” T.I. said in the video. “You saying just cause you from New York? Come on man… Then, for the motherf**kers saying, ‘You can’t see him, you’re not on his level,’ why? Cause you say so? What have you done? Who made you the judge and the jury, the end all be all.”
“We need Dr. Dre versus P. Diddy Pay-per-view for the culture. Let’s bring the two kings in and give back to the people. This is a give back to the people,” said Swizz Beatz.
Dre has never officially reacted to the VERZUZ challenges, although in 2020, there were speculations that he was in communication with Timbaland and Swizz Beatz for an episode. Dre, on the other hand, is said to have dropped out owing to technological difficulties Teddy Riley encountered during his duel with Babyface.
But if the battle really ends up happening, then we are up for a star-studded night, and expect Hip-Hop giants like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and more making guest appearances.

During today’s battle between Ja Rule & Fat Joe, the audience was spamming 50 Cent’s name on social media, which was shut down by Murder Inc. Records boss Irv Gotti. “All y’all talking that 50 sh*t. All good. He got beat up stabbed up. Shot up. And sued us. That’s all I’m gonna say. Your hero ain’t what you think he is. Period. And Facts,” he wrote.
