Dante Ross Recalls Working on '8 Mile' Even After Eminem's Beef with his Friend Everlast

Dante Ross talks about working with Eminem on ‘8 Mile’ soundtrack.

Dante Ross, the music industry executive, artists and repertoire representative, and record producer, sends birthday wishes to Eminem and recalls working on the ‘8 Mile‘ soundtrack even after Em’s beef with his man, Everlast.

Complex magazine rated him one of the top 25 finest A&R representatives in hip hop. Ross has worked as an office messenger, tour manager, A&R person, record producer, prominent composer, and artist manager throughout his career.

Dante Ross, a producer, and A&R man recalls how Eminem helped him out despite being on opposing sides of beef. Ross collaborated with Everlast during Eminem’s battle with a fellow white rapper. However, it had no bearing on Marshall’s selection while putting together a soundtrack for “8 Mile“. Dante Ross produced Macy Gray’s “Time of My Life” and Young Zee’s “That’s My Nigga fo’ Real,” both of which appeared on “8 Mile: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture.” Dante Ross revealed in his birthday letter to Eminem that this was more important than just music on a compilation:

Can’t say I know @Eminem but god bless that cat. I had 2 songs on the 8 mile soundtrack after he was beefing with my man Everlast. He could have shit on me. He didn’t. I ended up buying a house with the bread it helped me make. Big Up that man on his born day,” wrote Dante Ross.

In 2000, Ross received a Grammy Award for his work on Santana’s Supernatural. Ross’ producing work can also be seen on Eminem’s 8 Mile soundtrack, where he produced and co-wrote two tracks with Macy Gray and Young Zee. Ross joined the newly reactivated Asylum Records in 2017 as senior vice president of A&R, where he signed Sada Baby before departing in early 2020.
